My Story

I found a way to combine my love of the beach and my artistic ability and create "Kissed by a Mermaid" I create one of a kind oyster shell art. The moment I hold a shell in my hand it either speaks to me or it doesn't. If it does it ends up coming home with me, if it doesn't it ends up back in the ocean fulfilling another journey.

My son, Tore, is my unofficial partner. He is the only one that knows exactly what shell works for me. We comb the beaches and revel in our "mother loads". The greatest thing is nature provides me with what I need to create my art. The supply is endless and each creation is as unique as a fingerprint.

I don't have many regrets... but one of them is I didn't pursue a career in the art field. It may have taken me several decades, and although it is not my full time career, it IS now a part of who I am. This last year has brought me so much joy, knowing what my hands created is sitting on someone's nightstand, kitchen windowsill or the best of all, an ornament on their tree.

My Medium

Not your typical art medium. My canvas is an oyster shell. I also use acrylic paint, modge podge, gold leaf paint, printed tissue paper, tumbled glass beads and natural wood beads.
